Contests and Events

Ralph Waldo Emmerson said” Do not follow where the path may lead. Go instead where there is no path and leave a trail. Perhaps this is the sort of endeavour that we have all embarked upon now.

Kindled minds is an interact club of Navkis Educational Centre. It aims to conduct events and competitions that help the society and in honing our skills and attitude, along with capturing the members’ interest.
The first one on our bulletin board was the essay competition organized on the occasion of Grandparents’ Day observed on September 13th. The competition was held on September 21st. The topic was based on the various aspects that our grandparents would have liked to restore in today’s society from their days and their relevance now.
The second one on our list was an E-Poster making competition that held on October 9th in honour of Sir M Vishveshwaraiah's birth anniversary which is observed as Engineers' Day every year on 15th September. The topic was based on the major and lesser-known contributions of Sir M Vishweshwariah.
The third competition is Calligraphy competition. Calligraphy is an art of giving form to signs and thoughts in an expressive, harmonious and skilful manner. This competition will be held on October 15th and hopes to encourage members to ponder upon Dr Kalam’s and Gandhiji’s thoughts, on account of their birth anniversaries and bring them to life.
On the account of Dussehra, we are going to have our very first art exhibition, displaying various art forms based on the theme of Dussehra and on October 25th, which is observed as World Artists' Day, all the arts will be showcased on our blog.
On the 1st of November – being Kannada Rajyotsava we’ll have a musical compilation of the State Anthem- ‘Jaya Bhartha Jananiya thanujathe’. Each member will be singing a stanza of the anthem. On the first of November, we will be posting the outcome of this compilation on our blog.
A theme-based Kannada Singing Competition will be held on the same day, to honour the legendary Dr SP Balasubrahmanyam.
On the 17th of November, Kindled minds will host its very first group competition-Mad Ads. The competition is based on editing, making and advertising various products to be used in the corona affected times. The winner of this competition will have their videos sent to the Rotary club who are hosting a similar competition on December 1st.
International Crosswords’ Day is celebrated on Dec ember 21st every year. This year we have come up with a unique concept. We will be hosting a Crosswords competition- CrissCross. This is a treat for bibliophiles and Crossword lovers.
Christmas is a time of family frolic and joy. Unfortunately, not everyone can enjoy this holiday. To help the less fortunate we will be hosting a donation week. We will collect old clothes, blankets, garments and many more items so that we can keep them warm and happy.
The last event for this academic year is the fitness week which is going to be held in the first week of January.  With every kilometre we walk, we will be earning a certain amount that we are going to donate to a charitable trust and the end of the week.
“Today is an opportunity to get better. Don’t waste it!”- goes the saying.
